Add some character and room by using a sliding barn door

I just wanted to take some time today and write why I think adding a sliding barn door to a room or even a couple of rooms in your house is a great idea. To start, it is an easy way to add a little bit of character to a room. The unique look of the sliding track on the outside of the wall is starting to become a modern fashion look. You also have to ability to pick out a barn door that can add even more character or spunk to a room. Personally, I love the look that a sliding barn door provides. There is more to it then look though. Sometimes its a small closet, office, pantry, laundry room or just a weird shaped room and a regular swinging door doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The first thing people might think to do is to put in a pocket door. This is a great option, but personally I would rather not use a pocket door if I don't have to. They are a pain in the butt to install, but to make things worse, it is even more of a pain to fix if something goes wrong with it down the road. See pocket doors are built into the wall. It makes it impossible to use either side of the wall to hang some up because it will be in the way of the door as it slides. This also makes it virtually impossible to fix without ripping into the wall. A sliding barn door provides you with same freedom as a pocket door, but it is easier to maintain and privides the room with a different look. In the end you should go with the door that you like best, but below a provided a small slide show of some sliding barn doors. This gives you a small taste of the character it can add to the room as well as providing more space making the room free flowing.
