This past weekend I wrote a little bit about decking and had some examples of deck to stone patios. In the first picture you can see an umbrella at a table in order to create some shade. This type of outdoor furniture accessory is great, but it can be a hassle as well. You have to make sure you close it at night or on a windy day. It is hard to open when people are already sitting around the table and it only covers that small area. This is where a PERGOLA comes in handy. Basically a pergola is a wooden structure that can cover an outdoor area to provide some shade. It is also open so you will still be able to feel the sunshine and have that outdoor feeling maintained. Even if you don't have a deck/patio that needs shade, you can use a pergola on you lawn to cover outdoor seating. It adds extra value to your house and is a great selling point to potential buyers. Having a pergola also allows you to add your personal touch to your outside space. Below I have a slide show of some examples of different pergolas. You can dress up your pergola in any way shape or form. Adding an extra top cover or side covering can provide some extra shade or wind protection. One of the coolest examples I came across was adding lights. Hang some sort of stringed lights from the pergola gives you an option to use this space at night. Overall a pergola can add value to your home and outdoor seating area. The structure isn't that buckle so you don't have to worry about it taking up a lot of space. And finally, it gives you the option to personalize that outside space to your liking so you can use it day or night.
