Hello on this Easter weekend. Just want take a little time on this Saturday morning and write a little bit about decks. This is a great space for family to hangout when they gather for the holidays. Do you have a deck to impress? Who doesn't love having an outside deck or patio that they can go out and enjoy nature and the fresh air? It is a great space for entertaining and relaxing. Stone patios are pretty popular but decks can provide just as much if not more. With a deck, you are able to attach it to the house so you won't have to worry about going up and down the steps. If you are looking for a huge space, but don't want a huge deck, you can use a stone/brick patio off of a deck to add some space.

Getting back to the topic of the blog, when you build a deck, why would you want to deal with seeing every screw that you put in? This is just an eye sore and creates a space for water to get in and potentially have a problem for rot down the road. Over the past couple of years I have seen a product becoming more popular in the deck market. The product is called Tiger Claws. It is a hidden fastener product. I'm sure there are other techniques or tools out there like it, but I have worked with this tool over the past couple of summers and they work great. They are easy to use and install once you get going. They create a nice tight finish and best of all, all of the screw heads are hidden. This gives your deck top a nice smooth look and feeling from your feet. This option does cost a little bit more and can take a little longer for finish, but in the end you you will not regret your decision to go with some sort of hidden fastener like tiger claw. Some boards have a slot built in for fasteners and these are

great.....but if you go with a natural wood that doesn't have this engineer slot, then you are screwed. This is why tiger claw clips are the best in my opinion. They have a tool that makes it easy to hammer into the solid wood board. It will grab hold and allow you to screw down any type of wood and hid those screw heads.
